The main difference between photoperiod and auto-flowering cannabis is that auto-flowering plants will begin to bloom based on the age of the plant as opposed to relying on a change in lighting conditions.

What this means is, indoor growing can be completed with a light schedule of 18/6 from germination to harvest. Outdoors, auto-flowering plants finish very early, around 90 days from germination.
