Drop Everything on June 21! Happy National Selfie Day, International Day of Yoga & Happy Summer Solstice!

The longest day of the year, which is also known as the summer solstice, takes place on Monday, June 21rst this year. It’s also National Selfie Day and International Yoga Day!

There’s no better way to celebrate the Summer Solstice than using the mindful poses of yoga to enhance and engage happiness. Restoring mind/body balance comes in all forms: yoga, sunshine, cannabis, and feeling confident in your skin. Today is a great day to stop what you’re doing, get into position, and take a selfie while you’re at it.

Here are a few ways you can make the best out of June 21, 2021:

International Yoga Day: Practising Yoga on the Summer Solstice

The International Day of Yoga is bringing awareness to the benefits of practising yoga.

Restoring mind and body connection, balancing the process of thought and feeling, yoga is an ancient gift that promotes homeostasis holistically.

The United Nations recognized Yoga’s global acceptance and declared June 21rst International Day of Yoga.

The very heart of yoga is about breathing and gaining control of your body by pushing it to its limits.

Yoga is more about physical fitness. It is about connecting one’s mind and body, about being in tune with yourself.

This is a perfect reason why cannabis is beneficial during yoga and meditation because the cannabinoids derived from it do exactly what yoga does: promotes homeostasis.

5 Simple Yoga Poses for Beginners

Comfort Pose: Sukhasana

Looking for the perfect posture to sit meditation?

Look no further than Sukhasana-comfort post. Just focus on breathing and being present.

Feeling a little anxious? Try using CBD-dominant cannabis strains.

Your endocannabinoid system (ECS) works with cannabis cannabinoids to restore mind/body balance-just like yoga!

Downward Dog Pose: Adho Mukho Svanasana

This is such an important pose Especially for those with back pain.

From your hamstrings up your spine, this pose brings peace- and extra blood flow to your head.

Adho Mukha svanasana is probably the most widely recognized yoga pose after Child’s Pose.

Boat Pose: Naukasana

This pose helps build shoulder and upper back strength while also strengthening the core.

It doesn’t hurt to combine a sativa-dominant strain with low THC to help ground you and make you present during this pose.

Tree Pose: Vrksasana

Tree Pose or Vrksasana is one of the most well-known asanas poses known to western yoga aficionados.

This standing position strengthens your calves, lower body, your core and enhances your posture. This pose is considered beginner, but we’re confident you shouldn’t skip it

Snake Pose: Bhujangasana

This pose takes the pressure off the spine and helps ease back pain.

Utilizing a kush cannabis strain with the terpene myrcene before this pose may help improve physical pain and tension in the back.

National Selfie Day: 3 Fun Ideas for Taking the Best Selfie

Selfie of a Selfie

Invest in a good selfie stick, believe it or not, there are several different models you can get.

I didn’t know that was a thing, so it’s best if I leave you to jump on good ole’ Google and do your own research.

Once you have your stick of choice, have someone take a selfie of yourself taking a selfie.

Get it? Funny, right? It’s not?

Well, I tried.

As long as you’ve learned something from this article, we’re cool.

Do Something Interesting

It’s also International Day of Yoga and the summer solstice.

With the sun shining, flowers in bloom, and happiness in the air, there’s no reason you can’t find something interesting to do with yourself(ie).

A riverside BBQ or a lakeside bonfire sound magnifique. If you can’t get outside, find a unique building or structure in your town and snap a few.

Express Yourself

This is the best thing you can do to enhance your selfie game. Just express yourself.

Be you. Do a couple of poses, master your downward dog, and love the skin you’re in.

Being yourself is what shines brighter than Lightroom (or any other editing app).

Make a silly face, smile big, make the duck face.

No, I’m just kidding.

Don’t ever (whatever you do) make the duck face!

Celebrate Summer: Yoga, Cannabis, and Smiles

June 21rst is the longest day of the year and considered by many the first day of summer.

According to Almanac, the summer solstice may be the longest day of the year, but that doesn’t make it the hottest nor does it have the earliest sunrise.

Depending on where you live, the earliest sunrise can happen up to one week before the summer solstice.

There’s no better way to celebrate the summer solstice than by having a bonfire with your closest friends (selfie idea #2 do something interesting, remember?!).

Live rurally?

That’s great! Why don’t you go foraging for local veggies and fruit local to your region?

Take advantage of the longest day of the year by unwinding with a few of those yoga poses mentioned above.

And if you really want to be a rebel, take a selfie. Doing yoga. On the solstice. By a bonfire.

You only live once!

In A Nutshell

June 21 is not only the longest day of the year but could quite possibly be one of the easiest days of the year to release endorphins with holistic methods.

Finding that inner mind/body balance (homeostasis) is easy when you have the right tools.

Cannabis goes hand in hand with both the summer solstice and International Day of Yoga because cannabinoids from cannabis help your body fix itself.

Cannabinoids are like cellular superheroes that find, monitor, regulate, and protect vital systems in your body. Mind/body balance is more than deep breathing and physical exercise.

We love hearing from you! The good and the not-so-good. Do you have a yoga pose fail? Have you mastered the chair pose? We want to know!

What are you smoking today? Did you partake in National Selfie Day? And don’t forget to send us your favourite (or not so favourite) picture on Twitter or Instagram, or leave a comment down below.

We may just have a treat for you!

As always, stay lifted!
